Employability Tutor/Job Coach - Bodmin

30 hrs per week (over 4 days)

Salary £27,300 FTE (£21,840 pro rata) + Essential Car User Allowance £1,353.40 FTE (£ pro rata)

Who we are

United Response is a leading national charity providing support to young people and adults with special educational needs (SEN) learning disabilities and mental health needs. We believe in championing the right of disabled people to live, work, socialise and participate in the community, free of discrimination and unnecessary boundaries.

Who we need

Due to the ongoing success of our Post 16 Education and Employment Programme & our increase in learner numbers, we are looking for an Employability Tutor/Job Coach to join our delivery team.

This project is funded through DFE/ Cornwall Council/ Cornwall Adult Education.

This post will be based in Bodmin, Cornwall however delivery of the programme can be across Cornwall. Delivery of the programme is through a mix of education and work related activity both 1:1 and group work.

Full driving licence, own car and willingness to travel around Cornwall is essential.

Making it happen - your role

The successful candidate will:-

  • Through classroom delivery- effectively engage with young people to motivate and encourage participation and meet the project outcomes.
  • Through employer engagement and in work support ensure a sustainable integration into the labour market of young people 16 – 24 years old, in particular those with and education health care plan (EHCP) including young people with complex needs, at risk of social exclusion and young people from marginalised communities.
  • Do this by planning and delivering a person centred accredited programme which supports young people to overcome their personal barriers. Interventions on their journey could include confidence building, CV writing, job searching and interview skills. Pathways to support the goals of the young people could include travel training, community projects, health & wellbeing, cooking, supported work tasters, supported work experience, supported internships and job trials.
  • Have experience of working in an educational setting with young people who have special educational needs including social and emotional behaviour problems.
  • Also need good IT and self-management skills and a flexible approach. You will also have the ability to market individuals or services, have an understanding of the supported employment process and basic knowledge of social enterprises.
