The role:



Our client within the rail sector is seeking a confident and detail-oriented Finance Business Partner to support key decision-making across the organisation. You'll provide high-quality financial analysis, ensure strong financial governance, and partner with senior stakeholders to influence business performance.



Key Responsibilities:

Deliver financial analysis and insight to support strategic decision-making
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, accruals, adjustments, and period-end reporting
Maintain compliance with financial regulations and internal controls
Provide investment appraisal support and cost modelling
Prepare accurate business performance reports and risk analysis
Build detailed financial plans aligned to business objectives
Collaborate with stakeholders to influence financial outcomes and priorities



What the client is looking for:



Essential Skills & Experience

Part-qualified or working towards a professional accounting qualification (CIMA / ACCA)
Strong Excel skills and ability to analyse large data sets
Experience in financial planning, control, and reporting
Ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
Proven business partnering and stakeholder engagement experience



Desirable Criteria

Fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ICAEW)
Experience in large, complex financial environments
Understanding of project management principles
Degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, or Business
Familiarity with Oracle systems and Power BI



Work Environment

Dynamic and fast-paced with varied responsibilities
Focused on business partnering and proactive financial guidance
Exposure to governance processes, budgeting cycles, and ad hoc analysis
