We're seeking a Senior Support Worker to join the Buckinghamshire Neuro Assessment Team in the Children and Young People's Mental Health Service.
As a senior support worker role in the neurodevelopmental team you will support the neurodevelopmental assessment of children and young people whose behaviour is suggestive of the need for an assessment, to enable clinicians to gain a full picture of the child's developmental history through the review of developmental forms that will enable you to begin to write the diagnostic report with clinician support.
Main duties of the job- Support the Buckinghamshire CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team in delivering neurodevelopmental assessments in the community
- Assist in identifying service users' strengths and needs, planning and supporting them, and evaluating the effectiveness of the assessment process with service users, carers, and the multidisciplinary team
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure all clinical information is supplied within required timescales to keep the team's data on the patient's electronic records up to date
- Participate in clinical meetings, manage emergency situations such as cardiac arrest and self-harm, and manage incidents of aggression
- Liaise with other relevant individuals involved with the patient as appropriate and agreed with the patient, and support patients with individual needs and choices
The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role.

Your role in the team will be pivotal to the development of a more patient focused approach as you will review all the information families have given us. This includes a family’s report on what difficulties and strengths their child has, a form about inattention, teacher reports, and a child’s own perception of their difficulties and strengths. Using this information, you will start formulating the report with clinician support and identify any other assessment needed such as a QB or ADOS; you will have the opportunity for some assessments to sit in within the clinician to support the family, clinician and your own development.
You will have regular supervision both clinical and managerial and be employed by a trust that is committed to kindness and your development. You will join a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychologists, psychiatrists, speech and language therapists, occupational health practitioner, nurses and social workers. Person specification Knowledge Essential criteria- Knowledge of child development and neurodevelopmental presentation in children
- Ability to identify relevant information with guidance and apply this to pre-assessment
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Good standard of written English GCSE English or equivalent
- Training in Counselling/psychology • Qualification related to Mental health issues
- training in child development with an understanding of neurodiversity
- Maintain patient records both written and electronic
- Ability to effectively write reports
