Job Overview Continued- We are currently looking to recruit experienced and highly motivated and enthusiastic Nursery Nurse to join our perinatal mental health team with a specialist interest in improving care for women and their families in the area and who is open to learning & developing their skills in perinatal mental health. Experience of working in the Perinatal Mental Health field is desirable: a keen interest in this specialist area is essential. Our work can be challenging & requires excellent communication skills & a knowledge of safeguarding protocols ensuring thoughtfulness of the unborn & other children in the family at all times. The role is dynamic and challenging. The post holder will form part of the development of other staff in the Perinatal Teams knowledge and skills in caring for infants, and Perinatal Community MH Nursery Nurses/Team members are also expected to contribute to maternal mental health awareness training to Midwives, Health Visitors and other Mental Health colleagues. Perinatal Mental Health nursery nurses provide advice and support with antenatal and postnatal support with the transition to parenthood. This includes advice and support around bonding/attachment, practical childcare and child development advice and support. Working within the MDT, they have a particular role support the team to hear the voice of the infant, and therefore support assessments. We offer a comprehensive induction package and clinicians within the service are able to access specialist training both internally and externally in order to develop a high level of perinatal expertise regarding perinatal mental health conditions, risks and relapse factors, and evidence-based interventions. In addition, practitioners gain a growing knowledge base on infant mental health, development and attachment and bonding.
