Summary
Maesglas is a 26 bed care home for the elderly situated in the village of Holt, Wrexham. We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our kitchen team. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, supporting us to maintain our high standards.
If you have suitable cooking experience you may be also be able to step up to help cover as Assistant Cook in the absence of the Cooks.
We are offering 18 hrs per week, 3 x 6 hour shifts per week, 7am to 1pm and 1pm to 7pm. worked between Monday and Sunday with alternate weekends off.
Responsibilities
Supporting the home's cooks by assisting in the preparation of main meals and producing/serving light snacks according to established recipes and standards.
If you have suitable cooking experience you may also be able to cover the cooks themselves in times of absence.
Ensure all food safety and hygiene protocols are strictly followed during food preparation and storage.
Support the cooks in catering events and special functions as required.
Maintain day to day cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, dining area and kitchenette, including utensils, equipment, and work surfaces.
Participate in deep cleans of the kitchen as required.
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely meal and snack service e.g tea trolley
Requirements
Previous experience in a kitchen is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm for learning is key.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is highly desirable.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take instruction from senior staff while also being self-motivated when required.
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
