Crynodeb
Main duties for nursing staff on the Endoscopy Unit is admitting, discharging of patients, looking after patients pre, post and during procedures. Staff will be trained in assisting with Diagnostic and Therapeutic procedures, staff will also participate in our 24hr on call service, cross site working/rotation is also part of the role. Endoscopy is a specialised area, where staff are given competency documents on starting, newly qualified nurses will have to complete Preceptorship course to develop themselves. Another area of training is staff completing JETS competency, which is the gateway to work in Endoscopy Unit across the country. Staff will work alongside their mentor and our Practice Development Nurse (PDN) to complete competencies. Any transferrable skills such as cannulation, carrying out ECG, venepunture, leading the team , essential IT skills etc., will be beneficial to the role of staff nurse on the unit, having leadership skills, willing to act as Link Nurse, act as a mentor to newly qualified nurses.
