Immigration Enforcement is responsible for enforcing the government’s immigration laws, tackling illegal migration, removing foreign national offenders and immigration offenders from the UK. The Civil Penalty Compliance Team (CPCT) sits within Interventions, Sanctions and Compliance (ISC) and issues civil penalties to employers found to be employing individuals without permission to work and landlords renting private sector accommodation to individuals without permission to rent in the UK. The team also manages appeal cases and has oversight of the subsequent debt recovery processes relating to unpaid civil penalties.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop and embed a wide range of skills, in a job where you can make a real difference. We will give you full and comprehensive training which will enable you to carry out this worthwhile and varied role. You will work as part of our Workflow team, providing support to our Casework areas to progress civil penalty cases, including appeal and debt cases.

  • Utilising strong decision making and analytical skills when assessing information gathered from a variety of sources, including local authorities and other government departments, to identify persons or entities, e.g., limited companies, potentially liable for civil penalties.
  • Liaising confidently with Home Office colleagues to request further information on cases.
  • Being able to work at pace, when managing correspondence received in inboxes or by post and either responding to the correspondence or referring it on to appropriate people to handle.
  • Using strong organisational and accuracy skills to process civil penalties on our Casework and financial system.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting in casework progression.
  • Gathering and filtering information from a wide variety of sources.
  • Analysing and interpreting information to make effective decisions.
  • Recording information on Home Office databases.
  • Dealing with correspondence quickly and appropriately.

Working Patterns

This role is available on a full-time basis. This role is also suitable for part-time working hours, with a minimum requirement to work 16 hours per week due to business requirements.
