Your new company
A well-established and highly respected organisation within the insurance sector, known for its collaborative culture and commitment to excellence. With a strong international presence and a reputation for innovation, this company offers a dynamic and supportive environment for finance professionals looking to grow their careers. The business operates across multiple regions and specialises in complex financial operations, making it an ideal setting for those seeking exposure to a fast-paced and regulated industry.
Your new role
Reporting into the Finance Manager, as a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in the financial operations of several non-insurance entities within the group. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing general ledger activity, including journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly close processes
- Overseeing expense recording and reporting across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Preparing and reviewing financial reports, including statutory accounts, regulatory filings, and tax returns (VAT, IPT, etc.)
- Leading a small team of two direct reports, providing guidance, performance management, and development support
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external auditors to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Conducting financial analysis on expense trends and balance sheet movements, with clear commentary
- Supporting process improvements and identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and control
- Contributing to ad-hoc projects and financial reviews, including broker assessments and non-insurance balance analysis
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you'll need a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, with experience managing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes. You should be confident working with large volumes of data and have solid Excel skills to support analysis and reporting. Experience with UK or US GAAP is beneficial, it's not essential to have both. Previous exposure to the insurance or financial services sector will be highly advantageous. As the role will manage two people, experience managing or mentoring junior team members is useful.
What you'll get in return
In return, you'll receive a base salary of £65,000, along with a discretionary annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. This includes 25 days of annual leave, private health insurance, a non-contributory pension scheme, enhanced parental leave, and access to a range of wellbeing initiatives. You'll also benefit from perks such as a cycle-to-work scheme, gym subsidy, interest-free season ticket loan, and study support. Most importantly, you'll be joining a company that values integrity, collaboration, and professional growth, offering a supportive environment where your contributions are recognised and your development is encouraged.
