Job Title: Head of Humanities (Geography/RE/History Specialism)
Location: Birmingham
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are seeking an ambitious and inspiring Head of Humanities to lead a dynamic department within a creative and digitally focused educational setting. This is a key leadership role for a subject specialist in Geography, Religious Education, or History, who is ready to shape and drive an ambitious vision for the Humanities across the curriculum.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading curriculum development, raising standards of teaching and learning, and supporting the professional growth of colleagues within the department. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a school that values innovation, collaboration, and student voice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Humanities department
- Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of a high-quality, inclusive Humanities curriculum
- Model outstanding teaching in your subject specialism and support others to improve their practice.
- Use data effectively to monitor progress, identify areas for your development, and implement interventions
- Foster a culture of high expectations, creativity, and continuous improvement
- Line manage and support the professional development of Humanities staff
- Contribute to whole-school initiatives and play an active role in the wider leadership team
What We're Looking For
- A qualified teacher with QTS and a strong academic background in Geography, RE, or History
- Proven experience of delivering excellent outcomes in Humanities at KS3 and KS4 (ideally KS5)
- Previous leadership experience
- A deep understanding of curriculum design, assessment and pedagogy in Humanities
