This post offers an exciting opportunity for a Senior Assistant Psychologist to join the pan-London Women's Mental Health Requirement (MHTR) Service. The service assesses women prior to sentencing, and provides mental health intervention to women across London as an alternative to short-term custodial sentences.

This is a London pathways Partnership (LPP) service, led by Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with CNWL NHS Foundation Trust and Together for Mental Wellbeing.

MHTRs aim to reduce custodial sentences, improve wellbeing and address mental health needs associated with offending. MHTRs were introduced by the Criminal Justice Act in 2003, recognising that for many individuals who offend, mental health and substance misuse issues underpin their offending behaviour. This service aims to increase the use of MHTRs as part of a community sentence. The London Women's MHTR Service provides a primary-care level service and is also one of three pilot secondary care sites, testing pathways into secondary care services for individuals. The successful individual will have the opportunity to work across both services.

The post-holder will work according to national MHTR guidance, and local procedures. The role will include:

• To screen and assess for eligibility for Mental Health Treatment Requirements
• To support assessment and treatment interventions undertaken by the service.
• To undertake direct and indirect clinical work that is managed and goals agreed and reviewed through regular supervision by a qualified applied HCPC registered Psychologist.
• To plan, organise and co-teach psycho-educational courses and groups with appropriately qualified professional staff.
• To liaise with a range of services (including health, social care and voluntary agencies) relevant to the working area.
• To undertake projects relating to service development and evaluation.
• To set up databases, spreadsheets and using advanced IT skills in evaluation audit and research.
