“Are you ready to make a real difference in someone’s life?
We’re looking for a caring and reliable Support Worker to join our Dorset Outreach team, supporting a young adult living just outside Dorchester. You’ll be providing 1:1 community-based support, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 15:00 — helping them take part in meaningful activities, stay active, and grow in confidence.
This is a fun and rewarding role where your relationship with the person you support really matters.
About the person you’ll be supporting:
They are a sociable and friendly person in their early twenties who thrives on routine, humour, and connection. They enjoy spending time outdoors, gardening, music, festivals, swimming, and trying new foods. They are also keen to build up their volunteering and community involvement. They’re happiest when out and about doing things they enjoy and need support to safely access these opportunities whilst developing their independence.
This individual responds really well to upbeat, calm support workers who are patient, observant, and fun to be around. Having the same people around regularly helps them feel safe and supported.
Where you’ll be working:
- Dorchester and surrounding areas – Shift patterns are 09:00-15:00, Monday – Friday .
- This is a community-based support role with no personal care required. You’ll be accompanying them to activities, clubs, appointments, and volunteering roles.
- As this is a 1:1 support role, a driver with access to your own car is essential — all mileage will be reimbursed.
What you’ll get with Agincare:
- £12.50 per hour
- Refer a friend bonus – earn up to £1,000
- Career development opportunities
- Fully funded training and apprenticeships
- Blue Light Card (discounts in shops and restaurants)
- Company pension
- Employee Assistance Programme (24/7 advice and wellbeing support)
What we need from you:
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach
- Someone physically able to engage in light physical activities such as swimming, walking, or gardening
- A confident, outgoing personality and a good sense of humour
- Experience working with people with autism or learning disabilities is desirable but not essential
- Willingness to learn and follow clear routines and support plans
- A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle (essential)
What your role will include:
- Supporting them to build trust and confidence in new situations
- Encouraging them to take part in physical and social activities
- Helping them develop new skills through volunteering and hands-on tasks
- Ensuring they stay safe in the community
- Offering consistent reassurance, structure, and gentle encouragement
- Promoting their independence whilst recognising when support is needed
- Recording what happens in your shifts and raising any concerns
