Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience and qualifications (Teacher's Pay Scale + TLR, or equivalent for non-teaching candidates)

Are you an inspiring and dedicated professional with a passion for supporting students with hearing impairments? We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead our highly successful Sensory Support Centre (SSC) within a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Crawley.
Our SSC provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for students with hearing impairments, enabling them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to fostering independence, promoting communication skills, and ensuring full access to the curriculum for all our students.
The Role:
As Leader of the SSC, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, operational management, and continuous development of the centre. This will include:

Leading and managing a dedicated team of specialist teaching assistants and support staff.

Overseeing the provision of high-quality teaching, learning, and support for students with hearing impairments.

Developing and implementing individualised learning plans (ILPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Working collaboratively with mainstream staff to ensure effective inclusion and differentiation.

Fostering strong relationships with parents/carers, external agencies, and specialist services.

Monitoring student progress, assessing needs, and reporting on outcomes.

Managing the SSC budget and resources effectively.

Championing the needs of students with hearing impairments across the whole school.
The Successful Candidate Will:

Either hold a British Sign Language (BSL) qualification (Level 2 or above preferred), OR have significant experience as a qualified Teacher of the Deaf.

Possess a strong understanding of the educational needs of students with hearing impairments and the strategies to support their learning.

Demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Be highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Have a commitment to continuous professional development and a desire to innovative practice.

Experience in a similar leadership role within a SEND setting is highly desirable.
