The organisation stands with and for people experiencing homelessness and is committed to ensuring that everyone in the Exeter area can enjoy a place called home. The service provides essential survival support, advice, and outreach to individuals who are rough sleeping or vulnerably housed, with a strong focus on dignity, compassion, and trauma-informed care.

Please note: Due to the nature of the role and the needs of the client group, this post is open to male applicants only in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 (Occupational Requirement). Many clients are highly vulnerable and have experienced trauma, and the majority are male. This role is essential to ensuring safe, appropriate, and effective support.

  • Deliver advice, advocacy, and practical assistance to help clients access services
  • Participate in food outreach, which involves significant walking across varied terrain
  • Build trusting relationships with clients, many of whom may disclose sensitive personal experiences
  • Work both independently and as part of a close-knit team in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding best practices at all times

What you'll need to succeed

  • A strong commitment to the mission and values of the organisation
  • Significant experience working with disadvantaged or vulnerable individuals
  • The ability to manage challenging behaviour with empathy and professionalism
  • A flexible, adaptable approach and the ability to work on your own initiative
  • A good level of mobility and fitness due to the physical nature of the outreach work
  • Lived experience of homelessness is welcomed.

What you'll get in return

  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives
  • A supportive and mission-driven team environment
  • Competitive salary based on experience
