The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is a world leading, independent, university-level institution for the visual creative disciplines. We attract some of the finest academic and creative talent and are committed to creating and sustaining learning and working environments, where difference is respected and the widest possible range of cultural and social perspectives are valued.
Applications are invited for a Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Adviser, in Student Support and Development.
This role offers you an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of providing mental health and wellbeing support to GSA students including those who experience acute, complex or enduring mental health difficulties. You will promote wellbeing and support students to successfully complete their studies; working with students to assess and manage risk and responding to crisis or immediate needs appropriately. You will build effective professional partnerships to facilitate this and provide information and guidance to staff across GSA in relation to supporting student mental health and wellbeing in a dynamic learning environment.
You will be educated to degree level and hold a mental health or psychological therapy qualification and be able to demonstrate significant post qualification experience working in psychiatric nursing, social work or similar. Empathy with students from a wide range of backgrounds and a sound understanding of the impact of mental health problems on the capacity to learn and work effectively in a higher education environment will be essential.
