JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE Personal AssistantHOURS 4 hours per week to be worked 1 day after school or weekend or 8 hours every other weekend.Rate of Pay £12.40phLOCATION My own home and in the wider communityPURPOSE OF JOB I have been my son’s main carer since he was young. Harry is 18 years old and has a diagnosis of Autism and he has learning disabilities. He is a happy, friendly young man with a passion for anything to do with Godzilla, Lego Bionicles and Sonic the Hedgehog. A Personal Assistant (PA) is required to support Harry in the community to develop his self-image and his independence skills. The PA will support Harry to develop his verbal and non-verbal communication skills. The PA will support Harry to access public transport, and to go shopping, cinema trips or computer rooms and visits to farms.If Harry spends his own money when you are supporting him in the community, you must ensure the receipts are kept and given to me.I will reimburse you where appropriate for expenses.You must provide me with receipts in order I can reimburse you.SUPERVISION Harry’s personal assistant will be directed by and accountable to me in all aspects of their work. You must always ask what I require and not make assumptions about any aspect of the assistance I need or how it should be carried out. You should not carry out tasks unless we have first discussed it.MAIN DUTIESMy personal assistant will be required to do the following tasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature.Personal Care -Personal care prompts with general hygieneGeneral- The PA must ensure Harry is supervised at all times when in the community.- Support Harry to develop his independence skills by accompanying him on outings in the local community.- Support Harry to develop his verbal skills.- Support to develop his awareness of health & safety.- Support to develop his sense of road safety.- Support Harry at home and involve in creative activities.- Support to access social and leisure activities in the community.Any other request that I may reasonably make
