Job Title: HGV Vehicle Technician
Ref: E Riding 5271590
Pay rate: £16.10 - £16.65 per hour PAYE
The role:
A qualified and resourceful HGV Vehicle Technician is required to deliver a range of complex fleet engineering projects and proposals.
A Driving licence is required for this role, and you must be willing to work shifts.
Key responsibilities:
Maintain and record administration for all work in line with Traffic Commissioner requirements
Deliver systems which ensure vehicle and operator compliance
Carry out repairs and maintenance on all Council vehicles
Use MOT and Taxi Testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and suitability
Ensure MOT Inspectors’ quality control checks are up to date
Use software (e.g. Transform) to review vehicle history and job requirements
Use Tracker system to locate vehicles and expedite repairs
Manage Tachograph systems and monitor digital downloads for compliance
Ensure data is secure and meets data protection standards
Support tendering and contract management for external maintenance services
Stay informed on legislation affecting Council Operational Licences
Provide advice and liaise with partners on proposals and issues
Identify asset needs and develop practical solutions
Investigate vehicle issues, respond appropriately, and write technical reports
Supervise junior staff and contractors to deliver services within budget
Record accurate information and resolve disputes with contractors, other agencies and the public
Ensure all work is safe, sustainable, and effective
Support service performance consultations with users
What the client is looking for:
NVQ/City & Guilds (or equivalent) in motor vehicle related subjects
Experienced in vehicle maintenance
In depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance, vehicle mechanical and electrical repairs including the use of diagnostic software
Good understanding of Health and Safety
Analytical skills in respect of systems and vehicle faults
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Able to deliver positive results
Excellent problem-solving skills
