Job Title: HR Admin Assistant

Pay rate: £14.36 per hour PAYE



The role:

An experienced and dedicated HR Assistant is required to provide clear and accurate information about the full range of HR policies, practices, initiatives, and procedures in order to provide guidelines to managers and staff and ensure compliance with national and local conditions of service as well as the Council’s values and behaviours.

This will be a dedicated resource to support Children's reporting into HR, though you may be expected to work across different teams within the HR Service.



Key responsibilities:

Provide clear advice to managers on staff absence, misconduct, grievances, and development processes, apprenticeship and training while supporting HR services like FOI requests, contracts, and employee support schemes.
Resolve queries at first contact where possible, or take ownership to ensure resolution, including liaising with Occupational Health, EAP, and contractors.
Provide technical and administrative support for HR initiatives like absence management, recruitment, retention, and succession planning.
Utilise, maintain and contribute to the development of the Council’s Learner Management System to support the workforce to become empowered, enabled, motivated and resilient
Support managers, in conjunction with the Transactional Service Centre, in the effective, accurate and timely processing of employee lifecycle
Analyse and interpret complex workforce data to support informed HR decisions and assist with required reporting and returns
Support ongoing development of systems and policies to ensure efficient, consistent HR and workforce support across the Council
Work collaboratively with the wider HR service to share insight on key HR issues to ensure a joined-up approach and maximise service delivery to customers



What the client is looking for:

Level 3 HR Apprenticeship and working toward (or committed to) undertaking the Level 5 HR Apprenticeship
Successful experience of working in an HR environment
Sound grasp of relevant HR processes
Understanding of servicing meetings
Understanding of HR legislation, HR regulations and rules
Detailed knowledge of HR policies, procedures and processes
Ability to interpret terms conditions of employment and regulations etc
Use of Microsoft Office applications, IT packages etc
Skills to analyse information and data and present the information clearly
Strong numeracy and literacy skills
Good communication skills
