As our teams grow, we seek our next Department Manager to join our Milton Keynes Team.

Every day is different at The Bread Factory, but here are some of the things you will be doing:
- Ensure the team consistently produces high-quality, world-class products on time, strictly adhering to daily recipes and requirements.
- Full accountability for managing all aspects of production during shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Regularly monitor and maintain product quality, ensuring consistency across batches and continuously working to innovate and improve the site process.
- Develop and support Line Leaders, providing ongoing training and guidance to ensure they can effectively guide their teams and maintain high standards of production and quality.
- Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities during shifts, ensuring the right team members are placed in positions that align with their strengths and production needs.
- Hold regular daily briefings with the team to align on tasks, objectives and any updates or changes in production.
- Maintain open and effective communication with Line Leaders to ensure accurate and timely delivery of daily production reports.
- Ensure all food hygiene and health & safety standards are consistently met, adhering to both company and legal requirements.
- Identify any concerns regarding hygiene or safety and take appropriate action to resolve them swiftly.
- Suggest and oversee necessary changes in bakery production processes, ensuring continuous improvement and adaptation as the business evolves.
- Be proactive in taking on new responsibilities as required by the changing needs of the business.
- Manage and oversee rotas to ensure effective shift planning.
- Administer duties such as handling absences (including holidays) and ensuring adequate staffing levels.
- Conduct performance feedback, probation reviews, and regular job chats to ensure staff development and address any concerns.
- Carry out investigatory and disciplinary processes in accordance with legal requirements and company policies, ensuring fairness and consistency.
- Oversee other administrative tasks such as managing schedules, evaluating performance, conducting daily team meetings, and handling probationary reviews.
- Ensure all tasks are documented and handled in line with company policies.
- Collaboratively work with the Bakery Ops Manager and other members of the management team and build a strong relationship with the Head Baker.
- Manage and facilitate daily meetings, including operational and quality reviews.
- Manage and understand site financial metrics to support the bakery ops manager with the delivery of the P&L.

- Worked in a similar environment
- Have experience in a food manufacturing environment
