CARE ASSISTANTA great opportunity has arisen to join our wonderful EYFS team!This post is a part-time, term-time only role working as part of our Early Years team and supporting key pupils in our new Reception class. The post start date is 1st September 2025. We are looking to appoint a friendly, calm, caring and enthusiastic person to join our dedicated team of education support staff, working within different classrooms to support the learning of the children. You will also be sensitive to, and respond appropriately to the needs of all children and particularly to the needs of key pupils whose care and support you will have responsibility for. The successful candidate will: Have experience working with SEN and/or SEMH children Be a strong team player Be a good role model for positive behaviour Ensure confidentiality and give due regard to safeguarding Be willing to undertake training, as required Be able to build excellent relationships with children Be able to motivate and encourage children appropriately Be able to work with the teacher and other colleagues in the delivery of care and creating a stimulating environment Have high expectations of behaviour and learning outcomes Be able to remain calm in all situations Understand safeguarding within the school setting Be able to work as part of a team with excellent communication skills Enjoy working with children in a positive and patient manner Be a flexible, positive team player ___________________________ Care Assistant role: This is a key role, working alongside an experienced teaching staff in our reception class every morning, working under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff to undertake work/care/support programmes. The successful candidate will assume the role of care assistant, working closely with the team to support key pupils throughout the school day. They should have a good understanding and knowledge of SEND/ SEMH and will be working with specific pupils. Working as part of our team, they will be responsible to the class teacher, KS lead and our SENCo, and will benefit from the guidance and support of an experienced team - flexibility and initiative are desirable qualities. Overview of Key responsibilities: • Supervising and providing particular support for key pupils with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to developmental and learning activities • Assisting with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans • Establishing a constructive relationship with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs • Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils • Encouraging pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher • Setting challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence • Providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher and SENCo • Creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment • Using strategies, in liaison with the teacher and SENCo, to support pupils to achieve learning goals • Assisting with the planning of activities as and when appropriate • Monitoring pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievements/progress as directed • Providing detailed and regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCo on pupils’ achievement, progress, barriers to learning etc. • Promoting good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour • Establishing constructive relationships with parents/carers • Assisting the teaching staff in the smooth transition between educational phases • Supporting pupils in their learning and developmental goals • Undertaking structured and agreed learning activities/teaching support, adjusting activities according to pupil responses and needs • Supporting pupils and teachers during PE and other practical activities. • Preparing, maintaining and using equipment/resources required to meet the lesson plans/relevant learning activity and assisting pupils in their use • Assisting with the supervision of pupils at break times • Accompanying teaching staff and pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities as required and taking responsibility for a group under the supervision of the teacher • Working Monday – Friday mornings between 08.45am – 12.45pm Visits to school are encouraged – please contact the School Office to book.Closing date for applications: Friday 25th July at 12 noon Interviews will take place on Wednesday 30th July
