ABA Teaching Assistant - Year 2 (ASD & Behaviour Needs)
Location: Camden (NW3)
Pay: £95 - £110 per day
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, full academic year
Long Term Futures are supporting a small, inclusive primary school in the heart of Camden who are seeking a committed ABA Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and significant behavioural needs. The child follows a structured Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) programme, and the school are looking for a confident, resilient support staff member who can follow this consistently and calmly throughout the day.
The Role
This is a 1:1 position supporting a pupil with high-level need, who is working at a Nursery-level curriculum and responds best to repetition, clear routines, and immediate reinforcement. The child presents with strong emotional regulation challenges, so your role will be to manage moments of dysregulation, prevent escalation, and reinforce engagement through the ABA approach.
You'll work closely with the school's SEND team and external ABA specialists, ensuring consistent delivery of the child's behaviour support plan and promoting a safe, encouraging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementing ABA strategies across the school day
- Supporting sensory regulation and helping reduce avoidance behaviours
- Delivering tailored academic support at a developmentally appropriate level
- Tracking progress and behaviour responses in line with IEPs
- Working in close collaboration with therapists, teachers, and families
Candidate Profile
- Prior experience with ABA (home or school setting) is highly desirable
- Confident managing high-level behaviour needs with a calm, firm approach
- Experience with ASD, preferably within EYFS or KS1 settings
- Strong communication and observational skills
- Able to follow detailed support plans and provide clear feedback
Why Work with Long Term Futures?
- Dedicated long-term consultant supporting your placement journey
- Weekly pay and competitive daily rates
- Ongoing CPD and access to SEN specialism training
- A network of schools across London for future opportunities
Commutable From:
Hampstead, Belsize Park, Camden Town, Gospel Oak, Kentish Town, Chalk Farm, Swiss Cottage, and surrounding areas.
If this isn't quite right for you, reach out to Hugh at Long Term Futures to hear about other SEN roles in your area.
