About you...
As a Technical Clerk you will be part of a team who provide vital support to the planning function. This post will enable you to see future development as it is being planned.
You will have an eye for detail and ability to work to tight deadlines to provide a professional service both internally and externally.
As part of our team, you will be involved in providing ideas and contributing to on-going enhancement of our service.
About the team...
The Planning Department was a key instigator in achieving the wonderful town centre that we see today.
The Planning Section successfully achieved the adoption of our Borough Local Plan last year, promoting a balanced mix of development and green spaces. Throughout the process, we maintained open communication with residents to help shape a vibrant place to live and work.
The Technical Support team works closely with many other service areas throughout the council along with our Councillors and Parish Councils. This enables us to get comments and contributions from all areas of our communities during the planning process.
We are a positive, interactive team working cohesively to ensure a well organised efficient service is maintained.
Key responsibilities...
As part of the Planning Support team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including checking and registering planning applications for new developments throughout the borough, issuing planning decision notices, facilitating the planning committee process and the appeals process.
We work closely with our Land Charges colleagues, Building Control and Parks and Countryside members of the team, plus the wider service areas.
In-house training is provided for all tasks and comprehensive written procedures are available. (Please see the job specification for further details).
Interview date...
Interviews will be held week commencing 18th August 2025.
Interviews will be conducted in person, providing candidates with the chance to personally meet the team and experience our work environment.
We will be reviewing applications regularly and reserve the right to close the advert early if suitable candidates are identified. To avoid disappointment, you are advised to submit your application as soon as possible.
