Are you ready to shape the future of our campuses? As Head of Estate Maintenance and Development, you’ll lead the delivery of high-quality, safe, and sustainable university physical environments. This role marries strategic planning and operational management to ensure our buildings and infrastructure support Cardiff Met’s ambitions—now and in the long term.

You’ll lead the way by:

Taking responsibility for the University’s estate maintenance, compliance, and capital project functions.
Developing long-term asset management and maintenance strategies that enhance sustainability and student experience.
Leading planned and reactive maintenance programmes and condition improvement works.
Overseeing project planning, procurement, and contractor performance.
Championing innovation, value for money, and high service standards across estates functions.
Supporting our net zero carbon agenda through addressing the performance gap, prioritising robust compliance, maintenance and (re)commissioning activities, and leading effective retrofit and refurbishment delivery.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an experienced estates leader with a deep understanding of maintenance, compliance, and capital project delivery. With strong technical expertise and a collaborative approach, you’ll have the credibility to influence at all levels and lead a high-performing team.

A degree or equivalent qualification in construction, estates, engineering, or FM, plus chartered membership (e.g. RICS, CIOB, IWFM).
Extensive leadership experience in estates or facilities management, with strong financial and contractor oversight skills.
Expertise in building regulations, H&S, statutory compliance, and project delivery.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across diverse audiences.
Experience developing CAFM or data-driven estates systems and delivering within constrained budgets.
A demonstrable personal commitment to addressing climate change
Ideally, experience working in a complex public or higher education environment.
