SEN Teaching Assistant
Trafford
Contract type: Full-time, long-term supply (Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 15:30, term-time)
Daily rate: £105

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Trafford is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, sensory processing difficulties, and communication challenges. The school prides itself on providing a nurturing environment where every child is supported to thrive through tailored learning and integrated therapeutic support.
As an SEN TA, you'll play a key role in delivering meaningful and personalised learning experiences, helping pupils to build confidence, independence, and essential life skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups across a functional and sensory curriculum
- Implementing communication tools such as PECS, Makaton
- Assisting with sensory regulation and emotional support throughout the day
- Following therapy and behaviour support plans designed by specialist staff
- Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and fellow support staff to maintain a consistent and safe learning environment
This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs in a school setting. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
The successful applicant will:
· Have experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism or complex needs
· Have a calm, proactive and resilient with a person-centred approach
· Have right to work in the UK and full-time availability
· PECS, Makaton, BSL or AAC training (desirable)
· Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification (desirable)
· MAPA, Team-Teach, or similar de-escalation training (desirable)
