BASIC JOB PURPOSE
Within the framework of agreed multi-agency agreements and County Council policies and procedures to provide a proactive service to high-risk victims of domestic abuse by assessment of risk and needs and co-ordinating multi-agency involvement in keeping victims safe and meeting their needs.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Carry out risk and needs assessments with those experiencing domestic abuse within agreed procedures, to determine specific individual client needs, identify levels of risk and urgency of response in order to construct an individual Care Plan.
2. Implement, co-ordinate and maintain individual Care Plans and act as Care Manager to ensure that services are arranged to meet the identified needs of high-risk victims of domestic abuse.
3. Monitor, evaluate and review individual Care Plans, identify and respond to significant changes by modifying the Care Plan to ensure that the identified needs continue to be met in the most cost-effective way.
4. Negotiate and liaise with other professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies and relatives about arrangements in order to maintain the best possible safety for clients and by linking into the MARAC and Specialist D.V. Court.
5. To proactively support victims within 48 hours of post incident referral in close liaison with Public Protection Units (police) and also referrals via Specialist D.V. Court, and also liaise effectively with other agencies.
6. Maintain client records/systems, both written and electronic to ensure the provision of accurate up to date client related information to the group.
Notwithstanding the detail in this job description, in accordance with the Council’s Flexibility
Policy the job holder will undertake such work as may be determined by the Director/Corporate County Manager from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with the Principal Responsibilities of the job and in any location within the County of Cheshire.
Domestic Abuse Assessors (IDVAs) Assessors are required to co-ordinate and implement individual care plans for those assessed as high or very high risk. This involves working with a range of agencies - arranging, organising, overseeing, liaising with and monitoring the work of other agencies. For example, Community Support Workers, District Nurses etc. to ensure client’s safety. The postholder would co-ordinate these workers in terms of needs related to specific safety risks of the client and any children.
