The UHL Specialist Palliative Care team are an experienced team of Clinical Nurse Specialists and Consultants in Specialist Palliative Medicine , supported by an administration team.

We provide all adult wards across UHL with expert guidance and support with relation to patients with Palliative and End of life Care needs.

We are seeking a highly motivated nurse with Palliative Care experience who wishes to join our well established and respected team .

The candidate will be expected to work across all 3 UHL hospital sites over a 7 day working pattern inclusive of bank holidays.

There is the opportunity to progress from band 6 to band 7 through a competency framework .

You will be expected to review patients who have complex symptom needs during the palliative phase of illness and when dying.

Symptoms including breathlessness, pain and nausea along with emotional and practical support.

You will be expected to work along the existing ward MDT and liaise with community Palliative Care colleagues.

You will be expected to take part in teaching the specialty across the trust with a role in audit and service development.

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
• high-quality care for all,
• being a great place to work,
• partnerships for impact, and
• research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
• we are compassionate,
• we are proud,
• we are inclusive, and
• we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
