An opportunity is available for an experienced Parish Director of Music/Organist to be based at St Bartholomew’s Church, Warrington Road, Rainhill, L35 6NY. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with Rev Philip Swanson, Choir members, parishioner's and volunteers.
This is a permanent post working 20 hours per week. Although generally the hours will be worked flexibly to include evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the parish, there are some fixed times for weekly choir rehearsals (Thursday 7pm-10pm) and weekly Mass (Sunday 8.30am-11.00am) Further details about the allocated times can be found in the additional information document.
The salary is £16,571.42 per annum (FTE £29,000).
5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays (pro-rata) and pension scheme are available.
The successful candidate will be required to provide congregational and choral music for services at the parish in line with Liturgical norms of the Catholic Church in liaison with the Parish Priest. In addition, you will be required to play the organ at weekly Sunday Mass and other services during the year as well as directing the choir and arranging weekly choir practice as well undertaking administrate tasks.
Applicants should have; excellent verbal and written skills; professional experience of playing the organ and of Roman Catholic liturgical and musical practice to plan/select music appropriate for the seasons and Feats during the year; ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative; strong leadership and
communication skills.
