Principle Responsibilities
To provide assistance with the management of the day to day running of the home
Take responsibility for the running of the home in the absence of the manager
Help the manager with the general management of the home working under their guidance and leadership
Support the manager in his or her duties to ensure the home complies with all health and safety requirements, including the fire safety regulations and procedures
Help the manager produce and maintain systems and procedures for auditing and assuring quality of care provided in the home
Assist service users with the planning and meeting of their personal care and other needs, assist service users who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and using the toilet
Help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence, help in the use of care aids, help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of service users through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations
Assist service users who require help to manage their finances adhering to the homes financial procedure
Help with the formulation of personal and care plans for new service users and with service user reviews, read and write reports in appropriate files
Take part in staff and residents meetings and also in training activities as required
Help to maintain necessary records to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the systems for administering medication
Participate in the development of activities for service users in which they can join and which will enhance the quality of life
Help to ensure the preparation, cooking and serving of food meets the required standards
Help to ensure that rooms are properly cleaned and maintained
Help to maintain the standards set for the appearance and upkeep of the premises both in and out doors
Support care staff to contribute to the best of their ability to the efficient running of the home and the creation of the right atmosphere
Participate in staff meetings, training and development activities
Take responsibility for management of specific staffing matters as required by the manager
Help the manager with the management of the homes staffing, including staff recruitment and selection
Help the manager maintain the administration systems for keeping records
Help the manager to produce and maintain the operational policies and procedures needed to run the home effectively and efficiently and to achieve legal compliance
Help the manager with management of the homes financial resources
