Commercialisation Fellow
About us
Our Big Data in Health team at the University of Southampton is based in the Primary Care Research Centre. We are an interdisciplinary group conducting innovative research to address complex health and social care challenges, particularly in the management of long-term conditions. We combine AI and traditional epidemiology with qualitative methods to develop impactful, real-world digital tools. One such tool, developed through the Cluster-AIM programme, uses social care and health data to identify people at risk of escalating social care needs.

About the role
You will support the translation and commercial readiness of our AI-informed digital tool for use in NHS and social care. This includes contributing to early work aligned with the Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC), helping define clinical safety and data protection requirements, supporting stakeholder engagement, and working with a digital health technology commercial advisor to explore adoption and regulatory pathways. You will also contribute to a future i4i application and help prepare dissemination materials for NHS and industry audiences.

About you
You will hold a PhD* or equivalent professional qualification/experience in digital health, health technology innovation, public health, or a related field. You should have have experience supporting the development or commercialisation of digital health tools. Knowledge of NHS innovation pathways, digital health regulation, or the DTAC framework is desirable. You will be confident working across academic, clinical, and technical teams, and have strong organisational and communication skills. Experience in digital product development, AI in healthcare, or regulatory strategy is an advantage.

*Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Dr Hajira Dambha-Miller at: H.Dambha-Miller@soton.ac.uk

The job title on appointment will be Research Fellow.
