Specification Technologist
£30,000 - £34,000

Join a leading FMCG food manufacturer as a Specification Technologist-drive compliance, support NPD, and shape safe, high-quality products.

In the fast-moving world of food manufacturing, detail isn’t just important-it’s everything. If you’re the kind of professional who thrives on getting things right the first time, finds satisfaction in aligning specifications with ever-evolving regulations, and wants to play a pivotal role in the launch of innovative food products, this could be your next step.

This is more than a box-ticking spec technologist job. It’s a career-defining opportunity for someone ready to own the integrity of food data across global supply chains, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance at every level across a large number of customer portals. You’ll be joining a forward-thinking team that thrives on collaboration, operates with purpose, and believes that better food systems start with better people.

As a Specification Technologist, you’ll be the technical backbone behind the scenes-ensuring that every finished product spec meets customer, regulatory, and internal standards. From liaising with suppliers to validate raw material data, to maintaining specification management systems and supporting the compliance of high-quality food ingredient blends, your work will directly impact product launches, food safety certifications, and brand integrity.

You’ll handle specification input for NPD, respond to customer spec requests through portals and documentation, and collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Procurement, and NPD teams to close spec gaps and resolve non-conformances. This is a role for someone who understands the technical, but also appreciates the commercial value of getting it right.

What We’re Looking For
Experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
Strong working knowledge of food regulations, allergen management, labelling, and GFSI standards
Confident in using retailer/customer spec systems and databases
Comfortable reviewing certificates, raw material specs, nutritional data, and third-party technical documents
Familiarity with compliance requirements such as BRCGS, Halal, Kosher, SQMS
Meticulous, organised, and proactive, with an ability to work both independently and within a team

What’s on Offer
A high-impact role within a business committed to flavour innovation and food responsibility
Exposure to a broad variety of customer and product categories across international markets
A collaborative, values-driven environment that blends technical excellence with purpose-led growth
Genuine career development opportunities across quality, regulatory, and technical functions in a large multi-site business
