An End User Computing Engineer is responsible for managing the product life cycle of all service-raised incidents (incident control) and all service requests (request control), requiring the use of knowledge management. In this role, you will also be responsible for informing customers on progress and advising on workarounds where necessary, as well as the support and maintenance of end user services.

A senior end user computing engineer provides leadership to the EUC function. They have expert technical understanding and are able to work well with vendors and suppliers. At this level, you will work with relevant IT operations and other functions, such as Estates, Networks, Telecoms and Data Cente Operations to ensure a smooth service for all stakeholders and customers (end users). They oversee the resolution of incidents and problems ensuring they are dealt with in a timely manner. 

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Management and technical direction of the End User Compute 2nd line function
  • Responsibility for building, configuring and deploying all end-user hardware and software across DVLA estate
  • Responsible for the identifying, ordering and provision of IT Hardware and Software relating to the end user and managing all End User Compute related contracts and spend
  • Ownership of the DVLA tech refresh policy

Additional Information

Full time roles at DVLA consist of 37 hours per week. Applicants who wish to work an alternative pattern are welcome to apply however your preferred working pattern may not be available and you should discuss this with the vacancy holder before applying.

This role is not hybrid; it will be office-based in Swansea. We would encourage you discuss the working arrangements for this role with us during the recruitment process.

The role also includes occasional travel to our Birmingham office, with possible overnight stays, however you will be notified in advance.
