Key responsibilities Develop and deliver communication and engagement strategies aligned with GPSUs mission and goals. Create high-quality content for newsletters, press releases, social media, and website updates. Develop brand messaging and visual identity across channels. Manage and grow GPSUs online presence, including website and social media platforms. Support leadership with internal comms, team briefings, and change communications. Act as a liaison with stakeholders, partner organisations, and Somerset practices. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communications and campaigns. Lead on media relations, including proactive media opportunities and reactive statements. Organise stakeholder events, webinars, and campaigns to support engagement. Ensure all communications meet accessibility, inclusivity, and data protection standards Communication: Create compelling written and visual content across multiple formats. Support and advise staff in best practices for communication and engagement. Communicate GPSU's mission and impact clearly to diverse audiences. Maintain consistent brand voice and values in all outputs. Exercise diplomacy and professionalism in all correspondence and interactions. Planning & organisational skills: Develop and maintain project plans for campaigns and events. Coordinate multiple streams of work, deadlines, and inputs. Balance long-term planning with short-term responsiveness. Organise and support virtual and in-person events. Analytical skills: Work with autonomy and initiative in a fast-paced environment. Interpret data and feedback to adjust strategies. Identify reputational risks and manage responses appropriately. Balance innovation with operational and policy constraints. Work ethic: Frequent use of digital platforms and visual display units. High concentration required when producing publications and materials. Flexible working including occasional events outside normal hours. Travel within Somerset as needed for stakeholder engagement. Policy & service requirements: Stay current with best practice in NHS and public sector communications. Ensure GDPR and accessibility compliance across all communications. Support organisational learning through feedback and engagement insights. Contribute to wider service improvement and innovation.
