Please refer to the full Job Description Laboratory Activities 1. Undertake specimen reception and recording in accordance with an approved procedure. 2. Undertake, and where directed supervise others in, quality assurance procedures including internal QC and external QA measurements. 3. Be responsible for tidiness and cleanliness of the laboratory. 4. Use and maintain all laboratory equipment according to Hub Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 5. Use maintenance and fault reporting of the equipment within the department in compliance with Hub policies and SOPs. 6. Support the Laboratory & Quality Lead and Team Leaders with the organisation of the department ensuring an efficient and effective service. 7. To assist the Laboratory & Quality Lead and Team Leaders in the provision of progress and performance reports as required. 8. Maintain within the department appropriate stock levels including reagents and stationary. 9. Ensure safe disposal of specimens and waste in compliance with Hub SOPs. 10. Ensure work is carried out efficiently and accurately in accordance with SOPs. 11. Be aware of and comply at all times with the Trust, BSPS, and Hub Health and Safety regulations and safe laboratory procedures. Administrative and Helpline Activities 12. Identify population cohorts for screening and arrange for the circulation of letters, leaflets and test kits. 13. Answer phone calls from members of the public who have been invited to take part in screening, always maintaining a polite and professional manner in responding to any queries. 14. To make appointments for patients calling the helpline to attend their local screening centre. 15. To liaise with colleagues and other health professionals in Hubs, Screening Centres, and GPs by telephone and in person as required. 16. To be aware of and work to achieve the national and local standards and guidelines for patient care. 17. Collate audit data for the review of national targets. 18. Assist Hub Manager or Director with the preparation of statistical data and any other information requirements using simple statistic software, spreadsheets and presentation software. 19. Ensure adequate stocks of office stationary and associated items. 20. Ensure office equipment is well maintained. 21. Undertake a variety of administrative duties including but not limited to: 1. Returned mail 2. Ad-hoc letters received within the Hub The Hub has free parking on site and is based on the Surrey Research Park in Guildford surrounded by green spaces.
