Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the HMNB Clyde Physical Development Team. The Physical Development (PDev) portfolio is a key component of Armed Forces operational capability and comprises the three pillars of Sport, Physical Education and Adventurous Training. PDev provides a vital contribution to develop fitness, teamwork, leadership, self-discipline, determination, co-ordination, courage, individual and collective resilience, and consequently morale and fighting spirit. PDev also plays a meaningful part in Service life overall and is a core activity that provides a balance for the stresses of military life.
The Physical Training Section, under the Captain of the Base Department and supporting the Deployed Regional Unit(North), delivers all Physical Development pillars (inc Unit AT), policies and intent within the Northern Region.
The Adventurous Training (AT) Storekeeper's primary function is to support the AT pillar of the PDev Strategic Framework intent within the Northern Region. The key output of the role provides management and control of all AT equipment and clothing held in the Regional AT Store. They are directly accountable to the AT Officer for their primary role and support the DRU(N) in their tasking.
Specific responsibilities will include:
To support HMNB Clyde and the Deployable Regional Unit in the delivery of Adventure Training (AT) and Challenging Activities (CA) for all Royal Navy personnel in the Northern Region. To control, account and administer all Adventure Training Stores.
Key relationships:
Working within PDev department, there will be interaction with both internal and external departments on behalf of the department.
Main Duties include:
Issue and receipt of all AT equipment and clothing held on the AT store register, reporting all defects and taking appropriate action for any outstanding returns and losses.
Ensure all AT equipment and clothing is fully serviceable and fit for purpose, including appropriate security, care and maintenance.
Operate the AT Store washing and drying machines, ensuring all AT clothing is correctly laundered.
Conduct monthly stock checks and 6 monthly musters of all AT equipment and clothing held on the AT store register.
Maintain the cleanliness of the AT, canoe and mountain bike stores, laundry and climbing wall areas, reporting all defects through line management.
Service and maintain the AT Store Mountain Bikes, holding the relevant qualification.
Inspect, service and maintain, including arranging the repair of all AT kit and equipment as necessary, ensuring all PPE is safe and suitable for delivery, and safety checks are complete iaw manufacturer’s guidelines, keeping records as necessary.
Carry out minor maintenance of kayaks and canoes and conduct basic safety checks of the climbing wall.
Assist the AT Officer by providing service personnel with information on AT activities.
Act as a Storekeeper for HMNB Clyde AT Expeditions.
Undertake additional tasking commensurate with the grade as directed by Line Management as necessary.
