Summary

The role of the Youth Inclusion Manager is to oversee all community-based programmes at N-Gage. The role involves programme planning, management and training of staff, liaising with partners, writing reports and directing community youth work. The role will also involve sitting on the N-Gage management team, contributing to monitoring and evaluation of current practice and programmes and planning and devising strategy for the future. Must be enthusiastic about working with young people.

Responsibilities

• Directly deliver a high-quality programme of activities within our Catalyst project. This includes supporting engagement, one to one support with children and young people where appropriate and the engagement of Youth Voice activities throughout the Catalyst programme.
• Utilising previous experience to assess the needs of the relevant communities and develop programmes based upon assessments.
• Encourage and support young people to engage with others, participate in group work and gain new experiences within our provision and externally, and encourage the development of young people holistically (spiritually, emotionally and physically).
• Develop the Transform programme by engaging and motivating key groups of young people with established links to N-Gage. Run and co-ordinate playschemes, the Revolution (activity weeks) programme and Residential trips in school holidays.
• Deliver the Young Leaders' Programme and aim to get more programmes set up throughout the year, both in school and with young people met through detached work.
• Ensure the effective monitoring and evaluation of all activities and the achievement of performance targets in accordance with the needs of young people, funding objectives and delivery plans. With this monitoring, assess the impact of community programmes to build evidence for current grants and future funding applications in conjunction with the work of the Head of Communities and Funding by completing reports and using various tools to measure impact.
• Be an enthusiastic ambassador of the N-Gage charity, actively seeking to increase the profile and support base through financial giving of the Charity by networking and attending meetings, ensuring regular attendance at N-Gage events.
• Work with local agencies to support existing provision and develop strategies for engagement of hard-to-reach young people, including police, local councils, local churches and other local agencies as appropriate, and build up own role by using your gifts and working with the team.


Essential

• A full UK driving licence and personal vehicle
• Eligible to live and work in the UK
• Able and willing to drive our youth van
• History of working in leadership/ mentoring role with young people.
• Fully conversant with principles and practices of Child Protection and Safeguarding
• Have a proven capacity to function as team player
• Be able to communicate effectively to young people
• Enthusiastic about working with young people

Desirable

• Formal qualifications in youth work.
• Previous experience of inner-city youth work.
• Creative Skills – music, dance, arts etc.
• Experience of working creatively with young people to achieve set aims.
• Previous experience of working with volunteers in a community setting.
• Awareness of the main opportunities for young people including training, support and ability to effectively signpost.
• Basic understanding of Health & Safety and First Aid.
