Senior Pharmacy Technician for Clinical Services (Band 5) Location: Liverpool Womens NHS Foundation Trust Accountable to: Chief Pharmacist Responsible to: Technical Services Manager Contract: Permanent | Full-time About the Role In this Band 5 role, you will play a key part in delivering a comprehensive, efficient, and patient-focused pharmacy service across the Trust. Youll take the lead in developing and running our Patients Own Medication (POM) scheme on identified wards, working closely with pharmacists, nursing teams, and wider multidisciplinary colleagues. Your responsibilities will be varied and rewarding, including: Developing, maintaining, and auditing the POM scheme to enhance patient safety and experience. Dispensing, checking and issuing medicines in line with Trust policies and procedures. Assessing patients own medicines for suitability and ensuring adequate supplies during their stay. Supporting and counselling patients about their medications under the guidance of pharmacists. Identifying prescribing or technical errors and escalating appropriately. Mentoring and managing pharmacy technicians and assistant technical officers. Providing training to prescribers and pharmacy staff on our Meditech electronic prescribing system. This role offers a mix of patient-facing clinical work, technical responsibilities, and opportunities to contribute to service improvement projects and audit work. What Were Looking For We are seeking an individual who is: Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Holds a BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent qualification). Experienced working in a hospital dispensary setting. An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing. Organised, adaptable, and able to prioritise effectively. Confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Committed to patient safety, high standards, and continuous service improvement. Ideally, you may also have: Accreditation in final accuracy checking (ACPT). Experience working on hospital wards.
