Job Title: Welder

Location: Manchester / Birmingham
Shifts: Monday - Friday Nights | 23:00 - 06:00
Contract: Permanent - Network Rail
Salary: £65,304.00 (Grade WE14)

️ Overview of Role:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Welder to support Network Rail infrastructure across Manchester and Birmingham. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards in line with Network Rail's expectations.

Experience & Qualifications Required:
  • FTAW Welding Competency (Flash Butt Thermit Aluminium Welding)

  • TW3 Thermit Welding

  • RT3 Rail Testing

  • Manual Metal Arc (MMA) 1-4 (MMA 5 and MMA 7 desirable)

  • Full Clean UK Driving Licence

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct safe and precise rail welding using approved processes

  • Grind, inspect, and finish welds to exacting standards

  • Detect and repair defects including crack removal and DPI/MPI testing

  • Weld conductor rails and ensure all plant and materials are properly handled

  • Maintain accurate records and leave work areas in safe condition

  • Clean and restore tools, track, and site upon completion

Development & Performance:
  • Take responsibility for own upskilling and knowledge retention

  • Review performance and development plans regularly

  • Contribute to a high-performance culture through quality and compliance
