PART-TIME GARDENER GROW WITH PURPOSE!
LOCATION: The Kent Autistic Trust's Allotment Plot in Woodlands Road Allotment, Gillingham
HOURS: 10-16 hours/week (2-3 days)
RATE: £16/hour (includes holiday pay)
CONTRACT: Casual
Are you passionate about gardening and community? Do you believe in the power of green spaces to bring people together and nurture wellbeing?
Were looking for a dedicated PART-TIME GARDENER to lead the care and cultivation of our beautiful allotment at Woodlands Road. This isn't just about planting and pruning its about creating a calm, inclusive space where autistic individuals from our services and the wider community can connect, grow, and thrive.
What You'll Do
Maintain the allotment to a high standard: planting, weeding, watering, composting, and general upkeep
Plan and manage seasonal gardening tasks
Create a safe, welcoming, and structured environment for volunteers and participants
Support autistic individuals with empathy and patience
Coordinate activities with staff and community members
Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and stored properly
WHO YOU ARE
A skilled gardener with hands-on experience and strong horticultural knowledge
Organised, proactive, and able to plan and prioritise tasks independently
A great communicator with a warm, supportive attitude
Experienced in (or open to learning about) supporting autistic individuals
Possibly retired or semi-retired, looking for a meaningful way to give back

Supporting over 80 people in Medway and across Kent, The Kent Autistic Trust provides a wide range of services designed to meet diverse needs of autistic people and people with Associated Neuro developmental conditions. We provide residential homes, supported living accommodation, day resource services, respite, and outreach services. Ensuring the voice of those we support is actively listened to, working for us often means that no two days are the same, but the care and support we give is of consistently high quality, with CQC rating all our services good, and many outstanding.
