The role:

We are looking for a dynamic and professional Finance Partner to provide financial advice and guidance to managers to improve business performance and the delivery of the Cabinet’s vision, priorities and values.



Key responsibilities:

Identify, develop, and support initiatives to improve financial service delivery across the Council
Support business process improvements and provide financial advice to allocated service areas and projects
Maintain in-depth service knowledge and contribute to policy development
Prepare capital and revenue business cases and options appraisals
Identify cost reductions, income opportunities, and savings
Conduct process and service benchmarking
Build effective relationships to support collaboration, sound decision-making, and financial management
Provide coaching and mentoring as needed
Collaborate with external partners and represent the Council on relevant bodies



What the client is looking for:

Professionally qualified accountant or actively pursuing qualification
Track record of driving financial performance through smart budgeting, benchmarking, and analytical techniques
Skilled in delivering financial advice, guidance, and analysis to non-financial managers
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
Confident communicator and presenter of financial data and complex concepts
Proven ability to develop compelling business cases, conducting option appraisals, and supporting financial aspects of projects
Experience in delivering financial training and development to non-finance staff
In-depth knowledge of financial, legal, and technical policies, regulations, and procedures, especially in local government
Proficient in using financial systems and software, with well-developed ICT skills
Collaborative working style with a strong track record in effective business partnering
Proactive in identifying and resolving business performance issues
