About the Role
The Commercial Support Officer will be responsible for supporting all aspects of commercial and procurement and activity within the ‘People’ Category team which procures a range of commissioned services for citizens, including Adults and Children's Social Care, Public Health, Community Services and Homelessness services. They may also provide support to the wider Commercial, Procurement and Contract Management team to deliver an effective procurement function.
Our procurement service focuses on improving quality, maximising savings, spending locally and creating employment opportunities. The Commercial Support Officer will support all aspects of the tender process from preparation of tender documentation and advertisement through to contract award, ensuring compliance with the Council's Financial Regulations and UK procurement legislation. In particular they will support with the management of a range of procurement related information including the assessment of current spend, recording and reporting on procurement activity and outcomes. They will work closely with category team members and clients across the Council and will engage with external agencies and suppliers.

About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- IT skills with an ability to use Microsoft Access and Excel to produce reports and evaluate data
- Knowledge of tendering procedures including UK Legislation, other relevant legislation and how the Council's Financial Regulations relate to procurement
- Ability to work in a busy, challenging environment, utilising a range of skills in relation to a constantly changing subject matter and workload
- Ability to use your own initiative to make decisions relating to procurement issues and able to identify problems and work to create solutions
- Evidence of actively working with others to improve collaboration internally and externally
