We are looking for a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor with a focus on English to join a supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for education and strong communication skills to gain valuable classroom experience and help maintain high standards of learning in the absence of teaching staff. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as an English Cover Supervisor:
Supervise whole classes during short-term absence of teachers, primarily within the English department.
Deliver prepared lessons and ensure students remain on task with the work set.
Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies and procedures.
Support students in understanding instructions and completing work to a high standard.
Provide feedback to teachers about student progress and any issues arising.
Assist with administrative tasks or exam invigilation when required.
Maintain a calm and respectful classroom environment.
Ideal English Cover Supervisor:
A good standard of education, ideally with a strong background or interest in English.
Previous experience working with young people in a school or educational setting (desirable but not essential).
Excellent communication and organisational skills as an English Cover Supervisor.
Confidence in managing a classroom and maintaining discipline.
The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
A flexible and adaptable approach.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
