An opportunity has arisen to join Staffordshire County Council as part of a forward thinking and innovative team at an exciting time of information and records management development.

The Records Management Advisor role is integral to the implementation of the Information Management Strategy and ongoing management of compliance of applicable information and records management legislation and best practice across Staffordshire County Council.

We understand the importance of a work-life balance and currently offer flexible and hybrid working with attendance at our modern Stafford based office at least once a week or in accordance with business need.

Main Responsibilities

The role will be working within the Electronic Document Records Management System (EDRMS) delivery team whose remit is to implement a new records management system, taking the organisation through a period of transformational change and embedding a culture of excellent information management practices.

Understanding the importance and methods of managing records through the whole lifecycle whilst maintaining quality and integrity is vital to the role.

Some of your main responsibilities will include:

  • supporting and providing specialist advice to service areas through the information management programme of work, including developing training, guidance and procedural documentation
  • advising on and developing retention schedules, access controls and functional file plans
The Ideal Candidate

We want you to bring your knowledge and passion for information and records management and we'd like you to:

  • hold or be working towards a record management qualification or have relevant experience in records management and information management implementation at a professional level
  • have a demonstrable understanding or have been involved with Electronic Document Records Management System (EDRMS) implementation and management. We would need you to have a clear in-depth grasp of the principles of a EDRMS and be able to communicate as such.
  • have analytical, inquisitive and a problem-solving mind with excellent attention to detail
  • be comfortable with communicating with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation, with strong verbal, written and digital skills
  • have experience of working in a changing and challenging work environment and be able to bring strong time management skills to the team
  • have an excellent knowledge and understanding on the complex regulatory and legal issues surrounding information management and compliance
