Aura Education are working on behalf of a registered children’s residential home, currently specialising in providing a range of services to support young people aged 10 – 18 years who may present with complex needs.

We are looking to recruit people with a background in working with and supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties to work within their LD/Autism Young Person’s Home. The provision will provide accommodation for Looked-After Children, young people with ASD and associated needs and difficulties. There will be extra pay for personal care for severe learning disabilities children.

Shifts are a mixture of 12-hour day or waking night shifts, with the occasional sleep-in shift (paid at the hourly rate) which can be 9am until 8pm or 8pm until 9.15am (approximately) with a little variation across the sites. You will be contracted to 35 hours per week which equates to around 3 shifts per week and the potential for additional shifts is available.

Rotas are completed a minimum of 4 weeks in advance and are designed to meet the needs of the young people, but we can be flexible to meet the needs of our team and understand the work/family balance.

The children are cared for, 365 days of the year within their homes and therefore we need to staff the homes at all times meaning you may be required to work days, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

They want to give their young people the best experiences and do this by taking the young people away for extended periods of time to their caravans in Wales as well as other holiday destinations and would like their staff members to be able to share these experiences with them by supporting them on these trips.

Requirements
We are looking to recruit individuals with:
 Experience of working with children, young people and families and who are willing to be part of this exciting service.
 A L3 or L4 qualification in Residential Support Work
 Working knowledge of issues within children’s social work including childcare legislation.
 Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with young people and professionals
 Evidence of continued professional development and an NVQ/Diploma 3 Caring for Children and Young People or working towards.
