Key areas of responsibility:
• Carry out general cleaning duties including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing surfaces.
• Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, and kitchen areas to a high hygiene standard.
• Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
• To clear rubbish and sweep outside areas, patio areas and pathways.
• Cleaning ground floor windows.
• Replenish supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels as required.
• Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained in good working order and stored safely.
• Lock/unlock buildings as needed as directed by the Clerk.
• Stock taking and ordering of cleaning materials and equipment through the Clerk.
• Support preparations for parish events or meetings by ensuring spaces are cleaned before and after use.
Health and Safety
• Follow the safe working systems and use appropriate PPE detailed in the risk assessments applicable to the equipment in use and activities being undertaken.
• Reporting any accidents, near misses, or breaches of safe systems of work.
• Report any maintenance issues, damage, or health and safety concerns to the Parish Clerk.
• Ensure safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
• To comply with the Health & Safety At Work Act at all times as outlined in Cheddar Parish Council’s Health & Safety Policy.
Public Liaison and Safety
• At all times being polite, approachable and helpful to members of the public.
• To collect and report any comments or complaints received from members of the public regarding the Community Pavilion and Hannah More Cottage to the Clerk.
• Reporting damage or vandalism that is witnessed or discovered to the Clerk and cordoning off/clearing/repairing/replacing as appropriate.
Other
• To attend appropriate training or staff meetings to ensure continued professional development and keeping up to date with best practice and equipment.
• To assist the Ranger if required.
• To undertake any other tasks, appropriate to the grade of the post, as required by the Clerk.
