Brain Injury Support Worker

Location: Harlow
Hours: 8am-8pm day shifts & 8pm-8am night shifts available. 4 week rota will be provided.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Brain Injury Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality care and support to our client, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.

Due to role responsibilities, you must have a full UK driving licence and be willing to drive the client’s car.

About the Client:
Our client is a male with a severe hypoxic brain injury, following a road traffic accident. As a result, he has a PEG for feeding and medication, dystonia, is doubly incontinent and has executive function deficits including insight. He has also had surgery to his hips and knees.

He loves gaming, particularly grand theft auto and we are keen to find Support Workers who he can have a laugh with as he enjoys banter.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized care and support to our client.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, cleaning, shopping and meal preparation.
  • Administer medication and monitor health conditions.
  • Accompany client in the community, including to hydrotherapy.
  • Support with finances.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in the client's condition.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure comprehensive care.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role, preferably with brain injury experience.
  • PEG experience desirable, however training can be provided.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Energetic, upbeat, and empathetic nature.
  • Great sense of humour.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work the specified hours.
  • Valid UK driver's license.
