Overview
Portesbery School is a very special school for pupils between the ages of 3-19. We have a vacancy for a Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team at our impressive, purpose-built school in Deepcut. This is an exciting opportunity to join our progressive and successful school for Children and Young Adults with a range of Special Educational Needs, from Severe, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties to Autistic Spectrum Disorders.Personal attributes
This highly specialist Teaching Assistant (1:1 support for pupils with extremely complex medical needs) will be a vital part of the class team and will be expected to support the class teacher and STA to deliver the curriculum to support pupils' learning.
It would suit a colleague with experience working with children with significant medical or developmental needs, confidence in managing medical emergencies and some experience in supporting or assisting with tracheostomy or ventilator care
Staff are expected to support pupils' learning within the school environment including in the classroom, hydrotherapy pool, main hall and the sensory studio; in addition to supporting learning which takes place off site at places within the community. The role is full-time (term time only, 29.75 hours per week, 39 weeks per year), however we are also willing to accept a part-time candidate for this role (minimum 3 days per week)Further Details of the role are included in the attached job description. Salary is based on Surrey Pay PS5 (£26,777-£28,686 Full Time Equivalent)Actual/pro-rata salary is £19,036-£20,393 (29.75 hours per week, 39 weeks per year)We are also willing to accept a part-time candidate for this role (minimum 3 days per week)Working Hours are Mon-Fri 8:50am-3:20pm, term time only.
There are also further opportunities to work additional hours at our established After School Club.
