Psychology Graduate - SEN Support Assistant - Rochdale
Location: Rochdale, Greater Manchester
Pay: £105 per day
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only
Start Date: September 2025
Are you a psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience working with children with additional needs?
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Rochdale, rated 'Good' by Ofsted, is seeking a compassionate and proactive Psychology Graduate to support a child in Key Stage 2 with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to build experience in an educational setting and deepen your understanding of child development, behaviour, and SEN practice-ideal for those considering a future in educational psychology, teaching, or therapy.
In this role, you will work one-to-one with a pupil who presents with challenging behaviour, supporting them to engage positively with learning and helping to regulate their emotions throughout the day. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to implement individual support strategies and maintain a structured, nurturing environment.
While prior school experience is not essential, you must bring a strong theoretical understanding of child psychology and behaviour, along with a calm, patient, and resilient approach. Any experience working with children or young people, whether in education, youth work, or care settings, would be an advantage. Training in Team Teach or similar de-escalation techniques is desirable but not essential-support and guidance will be provided.
This is an ideal first step for a graduate looking to make a genuine impact in a supportive and experienced school team.
Apply now via Senploy to begin your SEN support journey in Rochdale.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS (child and adult workforce), satisfactory references, and full compliance with KCSIE (2024) guidance and safer recruitment standards. Overseas police checks may be required where applicable. Educato Limited is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Educato Limited acts as an employment business in relation to this vacancy.
