Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB), a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College).

BACKGROUND TO THE POST
As a member of the support team you will be responsible for undertaking a range of duties commensurate with your specific role within the organisation. This will include and may not be limited to carry out Juicing Enterprise production work as required under the direction of the Development Manager (Juicing Enterprise).

The post holder will be responsible to the Development Manager (Juicing Enterprise).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with the day-to-day operation of the Juicing Enterprise as required.
• Undertake production activities as required e.g. apple pressing, bottle filling, bottle labelling.
• Be responsible for personal health and safety, and that of others in compliance with legislation and the college codes of practice.
• As necessary, assist students and apprentices on work / practical experience.
• Carry out production activities as are necessary for the production of high quality apple juice, cider and other food products.
• Monitor and maintain the quality of products produced, and ability to maintain production records as required.
• Assist with sales activities e.g. customer deliveries, shows & sales days.
• Make best use of machinery and equipment and to operate equipment safely.
• Activities may include work in the college orchards to help to ensure availability of apples & pears for use in our products, eg pruning, harvesting etc
• Occasionally members of staff as part of the Horticultural Team will be required to assist with open days, open evenings and other college events.

OFFERS OF WORK

For the successful candidate a conditional offer of work will be made. Our offer of work will be conditional upon a number of mandatory pre-employment checks, to include but not limited to: DBS, Barred List check, right to work check, internet search, TRA check (academic posts).

Essential Attainments:

✓A level 2 qualification in Food Hygiene (or willingness to achieve the qualification within the probationary period).
✓Ability to maintain a well prepared, clean & safe working environment and develop the professional attitude staff towards their work and give them every opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills.
✓Ability to use computers to operate college HR systems, email etc.
✓Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and their implementation including an understanding of Health and Safety law and policies.
✓The ability to complete production records and other essential / legislative records
✓A current clean driving licence and the willingness to drive College delivery vehicles if required to do so
✓Valid First Aid & Work Certificate (or willingness to undertake).

Desirable Attainments:

✓Experience in operating a range of machinery, tools and/or equipment relevant to operational area
