Do you have what it takes to make a difference to a 16-year-old teenage girl who attends an online learning school? Education plays a significant role in life opportunities and some just need a different way of learning. This very intelligent, articulate young lady, with a diagnosis of Autism needs a preferably experienced teaching assistant, to support her to remain on task with her studies. These include maths, English, science, global citizenship and sociology.
This fantastic, strong-minded girl has a wicked, dry, black sense of humour and can be blunt, so inevitably she will make you laugh! She can sometimes mask what she is feeling, so you will need to be able to pick up on her body language and with a listening ear, adapt by changing your approach. This is not your typical teenager in every sense of the word who wants to play online games. Refreshingly, she enjoys reading factual books, has a good heart, volunteers and is very much an outdoors person, enjoys nature, sailing and cruising passenger boats under supervision.
If you feel you have the skill set to support this young lady in reaching her true potential, then we look forward to receiving your application.
This post is initially fixed term until 17/07/2026 and the hours are between 8am – 3pm (to be discussed at interview).

Please send your application via email to: Jayne.gammage@northumberland.gov.uk
