Catering Manager – Grade 7
Hours: 30.85 hours per week, working hours Monday to Friday – 7.30am-2.00pm This is a permanent contract, working Term Time only (38 weeks/year) + 3 additional days paid via timesheets. Start date: 21st August 2025 (or as close to this date as possible).

Birkett House School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated School Catering Manager to lead our fantastic kitchen team. As our Catering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in creating a vibrant and welcoming dining experience for our children, providing them with delicious, healthy meals.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen, producing food from fresh ingredients, delivers excellent customer service and is able motivate and support team members.
As a Catering Manager your responsibilities will include: • Ensuring the smooth running of the catering operation • Preparing and cooking meals for students, including serving • Planning and controlling all aspects of the service • Ensuring all compliance and Health & Safety Statutory requirements are met • Keeping the kitchen clean & tidy • Ordering, costing, stocktaking and keeping appropriate records using IT skills • Developing and maintaining a menu in line with School Food Standards • To be aware of, and cater for the children’s dietary requirements and preferences, including allergies. • Line Manager to the kitchen staff • Keeping up to date with relevant training
Job requirements: A level 3 qualification and previous kitchen experience is essential for this role, along with a positive, “can do” attitude and the ability to lead and be part of a team.
Contract type: Term time only (38 weeks per year) + 3 additional days paid via timesheets. Contract term: Part time, Permanent Hours: 30.85 hours a week (plus 20 minutes per day unpaid break). Monday to Friday – 7.30am-2.00pm Grade: Grade 7, points 11-14 (FTE £25,998-£27,273) Actual salary: £18,076 (pro rata of F.T.E. £25,998)
