Primary–Secondary Teacher (Full‑Time, MPS/UPS Scale)

Are you passionate about delivering an engaging and inclusive curriculum that spans Key Stages 1–3? We are seeking a qualified teacher capable of seamlessly transitioning from primary to lower-secondary content to join a specialist independent setting that supports pupils with diverse learning needs.

About the School
This is a small, nurturing independent special school catering for pupils aged 7 to 16 with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, autism spectrum conditions (ASC), ADHD, and associated learning differences. The school offers a therapeutic and individualised approach to education, ensuring each young person can access a tailored curriculum at a pace and level suited to their needs.

The core offer includes:

  • A primary-style curriculum adapted for students across KS2 and KS3, with emphasis on core literacy, numeracy, and life skills

  • Small class sizes and a high staff-to-pupil ratio to support engagement and consistency

  • A trauma-informed, emotionally literate environment where pupils can build confidence, trust, and resilience

  • Integrated pastoral and therapeutic support, with close links to families and external agencies

  • A curriculum built around progress over time, not age-related expectations

The school welcomes staff from diverse educational backgrounds who bring warmth, patience, and emotional strength to their practice. Successful staff often have a background in primary education, SEND, or SEMH environments, and share a commitment to relational practice and holistic development.

The team is united by values such as:

    • Resilience: Able to remain calm, consistent, and optimistic, even in the face of behavioural or emotional challenges

    • Compassion: Committed to understanding the root causes of behaviour and nurturing trust over time

    • Adaptability: Skilled in tailoring content and delivery to meet learners where they are

    • Collaboration: Working closely with therapists, support staff, families, and external professionals to wrap around the child

      Role & Responsibilities

      • Deliver a broad and balanced curriculum rooted in primary methodology but suitable for older learners (up to age 14)

      • Use assessment to personalise learning and support emotional regulation

      • Develop strong relationships with pupils and maintain clear routines and expectations

      • Take part in school life beyond the classroom, contributing to the wider therapeutic and pastoral ethos

        Salary & Benefits

        • Main Pay Scale (MPS) range: £31,650–£43,607

        • Upper Pay Scale (UPS): £45,646–£49,084

        • TLR allowance available for additional responsibilities (£3,391–£16,553+)

        • Teachers’ Pension Scheme, CPD pathways, and wellbeing support

          Essential Requirements

          • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)

          • Experience teaching at primary level, with confidence adapting for secondary-age learners

          • Strong classroom and behaviour management strategies

          • A genuine passion for supporting children who need more than a mainstream offer
